# Crow Nest MCP server

This URL is the Crow Nest MCP server: https://crow-nest.com/mcp
Crow Nest hosts the tools you build with AI and lets you share them like a Google Doc.

If a user pasted this URL to you, they want to connect Crow Nest. It's a remote MCP server (Streamable HTTP, OAuth sign-in, no client ID or API key needed). Find the section below for the app you're running in:

- If you can add MCP servers yourself (you can run the command or edit the config), do it, then start the sign-in.
- If you can't (chat apps like Claude and ChatGPT never can), don't try and don't say it can't be done. Give the user that section's steps right away, as a short numbered list, with any command in a code block.

## Claude Code (terminal, IDE, or the Code tab in Claude desktop)

1. Run: `claude mcp add --transport http -s user crow-nest https://crow-nest.com/mcp`
2. Tell the user to type `/mcp`, pick **crow-nest**, and choose **Authenticate**. Their browser opens the Crow Nest sign-in page.

## Claude.ai, Claude desktop or the Claude phone app

Chat can't add connectors by itself. Give the user these steps, on claude.ai or Claude desktop (once added, it works in the phone app too):

1. Open **Customize > Connectors**.
2. Click **Add**, then **Add custom connector**.
3. Name it `Crow Nest`, paste `https://crow-nest.com/mcp` as the URL, and click **Add**. Leave the sign-in options as they are.
4. Click **Connect** and sign in to Crow Nest in the window that opens.

On the Free plan Claude allows one custom connector. On a Team or Enterprise plan, an owner adds it once under **Organization settings > Connectors**, then each person clicks **Connect**.

## ChatGPT

ChatGPT can't add apps by itself, and custom ones need a paid plan (Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise or Edu). Give the user these steps, on chatgpt.com:

1. Open **Settings > Apps & Connectors > Advanced settings** and turn on **Developer mode**.
2. Back in **Apps & Connectors**, click **Create**.
3. Name it `Crow Nest`, paste `https://crow-nest.com/mcp` as the MCP server URL, choose **OAuth**, tick the box that you trust it, and click **Create**.
4. Sign in to Crow Nest in the window that opens. In a chat, pick Crow Nest from the **+** menu to use it.

## Codex

You can't connect yourself: Codex's sandbox can't change its own settings (`~/.codex/config.toml`), and a new MCP server only loads when a new session starts. Don't try; give the user these steps right away:

1. In their own terminal (not in this chat), run: `codex mcp add crow-nest --url https://crow-nest.com/mcp`
2. Then run: `codex mcp login crow-nest`. Their browser opens the Crow Nest sign-in page; they sign in and allow access.
3. Start a new Codex session and ask: "What can I do with Crow Nest?"

## Cursor

Open this link to install it, then sign in when Cursor asks: cursor://anysphere.cursor-deeplink/mcp/install?name=crow-nest&config=eyJ1cmwiOiJodHRwczovL2Nyb3ctbmVzdC5jb20vbWNwIn0%3D

## VS Code (GitHub Copilot)

Open this link to install it, then click **Install** and sign in when VS Code asks: vscode:mcp/install?%7B%22name%22%3A%22crow-nest%22%2C%22type%22%3A%22http%22%2C%22url%22%3A%22https%3A%2F%2Fcrow-nest.com%2Fmcp%22%7D
Or run in a terminal: `code --add-mcp '{"name":"crow-nest","type":"http","url":"https://crow-nest.com/mcp"}'`

## Windsurf

Add this to `~/.codeium/windsurf/mcp_config.json` (or Cascade > MCP servers > Manage > View raw config), merging with any servers already there, then press refresh in the MCP servers panel and sign in when asked:

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "crow-nest": {
      "serverUrl": "https://crow-nest.com/mcp"
    }
  }
}
```

## Gemini CLI

1. Run: `gemini mcp add --transport http crow-nest https://crow-nest.com/mcp`
2. Tell the user to type `/mcp auth crow-nest` in Gemini CLI. Their browser opens the Crow Nest sign-in page.

## Any other app

Add a remote MCP server named `crow-nest` with the URL `https://crow-nest.com/mcp` (transport: Streamable HTTP; auth: OAuth, which registers itself). The app opens the Crow Nest sign-in page the first time it connects.

## Building apps

The full developer reference (crow.db, crow.json rules, files, AI, outside APIs, live updates) is the `crow_docs` tool once connected, and also at https://crow-nest.com/mcp/docs.

## What happens next

The browser opens https://crow-nest.com/signin. New users see Crow Nest Personal, continue with Google, pick a plan, and allow access. Then they're back in the app with these tools: publish, share, list_tools, tool_stats, rollback.

## Tell the user what they can do with Crow Nest

Once connected, tell the user what they can do with Crow Nest, with an example request they could type for each, and suggest one next step:

- **Publishing and sharing**: "Put this folder online and share it with my team."
- **Data**: "Make my expense tracker save its entries so they are still there tomorrow."
- **Files and live updates**: "Let people upload receipts, and show new entries on everyone's screen as they happen."
- **AI and API keys**: "Add a button that summarizes a note with AI, using my own key."
- **Stats and rollback**: "How many people opened my tools this week? Go back to yesterday's version."
- **Domains**: "Find me a domain for my bakery and put the booking page on it."
- **Organizations**: "Set up an organization for my company and invite my coworkers."
- **Billing**: "Show me my plan, my usage and my invoices."
